Student perspectives on prehospital education in Bolivia

Monday, June 17, 2013

During this final week of class, many of the students volunteered to participate in our research study about factors important to their professional progress.

The study, based in a questionnaire, is specifically designed to learn why our students are pursuing a career in prehospital care, what impediments they encountered once they entered the field, and how courses like ours affect their work. In addition, we are interested in what students perceive as the major health problems in their community, and which of those health problems they can address in their role as a prehospital provider.

The responses we collect will help guide our development strategy, enabling us to better address professional impediments our students face. We will begin analyzing the surveys in the coming weeks, and follow-up with participants in two months to find out how our course affected students’ professional life.
