Sign-Up Day

Monday, June 27, 2011

This last Friday was a national holiday in Venezuela, and our friends from the bomberos at Universidad Simon Bolivar took us to the beaches of Los Roques for the weekend. It was an incredible experience we will not soon forget.

On Monday we got back to work at Venemergencia and began to work out the details of how a community response group can act in a barrio like Los Erasos. We have some great ideas, contacts, and resources here, but there is still a lot to be done before the graduates of the first responders brigade course will be able to operate effectively in the event of an emergency.

At night we traveled once again to Los Erasos for our final pre-course meeting. Nearly 40 students signed up for the brigade course. Seeing so many students was an exciting moment for us. Our first day of class at IESA is tomorrow, and we can hardly wait.v
