A Tu Lado to Begin Research Study

Thursday, May 16, 2013

A Tu Lado’s programs have always been guided by feedback from students and community stakeholders. To date, we’ve used informal surveys and interviews to gain insights into obstacles our students face and what will best help them succeed.

This June we will have the opportunity to formalize our research through a study of factors that affect professional progress among pre-hospital healthcare providers. We’re working with the Universidad Mayor de San Simón in Cochabamba to ask study volunteers what affected their decision to work in the field and what impediments they encounter as paramedics. We’ll also ask how ATL’s course changed the way they practice emergency care and how they seek employment.

After collecting data this June and August (the two-month follow-up), we hope to submit the study for peer review and publication.
